Apply to be a delegate to Terra Madre! (Deadline April 6)

This year, the International Congress (October 27-29) will take place concurrently with Terra Madre/Salone del Gusto (October 25-29) in Turin, Italy. The application deadline for these important and exciting events has been extended to 11:59pm ET on April 6, 2012.  Join the global Slow Food community to celebrate good, clean, and fair food. Click here to apply now!

U.S. delegates–sponsored by Slow Food USA–receive free housing, food, and ground transportation during the event. Even if you don’t want these benefits, you should still apply so that we can include you in the delegate count that will receive welcome packages from us upon arrival in Italy. This is especially important if you want to attend the International Congress–since there is a fixed number of spots.  Unlike Terra Madre/Salone del Gusto, which for the first time is a unified event open to the public, there is no other way to participate in the International Congress than applying through Slow Food USA.

What is International Congress?

The International Congress is our most important international leadership meeting. It’s where we decide our vision of where Slow Food should be in five years, and elect the international executive body that will guide us there. Attending the Congress means you’ll be joining your fellow Slow Food leaders from around the world in helping to shape the future of Slow Food.

What is Terra Madre/Salone del Gusto?

Every two years, Slow Food International hosts a mega-conference called Terra Madre, where the global food community comes together to share their innovative solutions and time-honored traditions for feeding the planet in a good, clean, and fair way. Delegates from over 130 countries are selected by Slow Food associations to represent the important work being done in various regions of the world.

Held concurrently with Terra Madre, Salone del Gusto is the world’s largest artisanal food marketplace. It is an important opportunity for many small-scale sustainable producers from the Slow Food and Terra Madre networks to showcase (and sell) their products and practices. This year, for the first time, Terra Madre and Salone del Gusto will be a unified event open to the public.

Don’t miss out on this historical, global gathering to celebrate good, clean, and fair food worldwide! Apply now!
